Our new “GRANDDADDY BAIT COMPANY” Folk Art “Brook Trout” is 12 ½” Long

Brook Trout were originally native to Eastern North America. Now they are found in many states with cold-water streams having been introduced to these new waters through stocking. The original stocking of Brook Trout into Western US waters occurred when the lumber companies moved west in search of new sources of timber. They would bring Brook Trout with them and stock them in streams as food source for the timber crew. Many of these stocked populations have become wild naturally reproducing populations. Actually a member of the Char Family, Brook Trout are noted for being easy to catch and excellent as table fare. A beautifully fish with distinctive worm like markings on their sides Brook Trout are considered by many too be the most beautiful trout in North America.

This new line of Folk Art Fish is patterned after the highly collectable spearing decoys from the early 1900’s. Hand crafted and hand painted with exquisite detail from an original woodcarving by carver artist Jerry Eppel.
